I've lost count of the number of births I've helped with. But each one is special to me. I remember their names, their courage, their love. Strong, beautiful women who I've had the privilege of helping during sacred times of their lives - some multiple times! It's not easy, but it's incredible!

A fantastic list of positive, empowering statements to help you mentally during your birth!
Compiled from SHE BIRTHS BRAVELY. I recently completed The VBAC Link's Advanced Doula Certification Program. What a fantastic resource! Any moms considering a VBAC need to check out their website: www.thevbaclink.com
I had fun doing an online career presentation for a home school group yesterday with my little assistant!
Have you ever wondered why newborn babies receive a shot of Vitamin K? What's it for? Here's a great article about it!
https://evidencebasedbirth.com/evidence-for-the-vitamin-k-shot-in-newborns/ Today, IHC updated their hospital visitor policy to allow 2 healthy visitors in Labor & Delivery! This is wonderful news if you'd like to have a doula at your birth! Hopefully more hospitals will join them soon!
See the guidelines here: https://intermountainhealthcare.org/covid19-coronavirus/latest-updates/updated-visitor-guidelines/ This book is incredible! I’ve already recommended it to several dads-to-be. One of my favorite things about this book is that through each stage of pregnancy and labor, there are sections entitled “How Might You Feel?” and “How Might the Pregnant Person Feel?” ’I’ve yet to find a better, more direct yet reassuring resource for dads. These sections list several things you might feel and experience. What a great way to help dad prepare for whatever he might experience.
Another helpful question that is repeatedly asked is “How Can You Help?” This is brought up through each of the different stages of pregnancy and labor. Too often, dads make the comment that they didn’t know what to do or how to help. This book gives many specific ways. They are laid out simply too, so a birth partner could easily flip open the book and find the suggestions he needs in the heat of the moment. If you are the partner of someone preparing to give birth, I highly recommend this book! |
